Abducted Bursar Regains Freedom, Three Suspects Nabbed

The bursar of Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic KENPOLY Bori, Rivers state, Mrs. Lilian Okorite Nkanbia-Davies, who was abducted on Monday November 16, on her way from work regained her freedom about 3am today, November 22, while three suspects were nabbed.
Her release was due to sustained pressure from security agencies, a prominent ex-militant leader in area, Solomon Ndigbara, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), concerted efforts of the Khana Local Government Council officials and other concerned Ogonis.
The ASUP chairman, KENPOLY chapter, Comrade Ferry Barineka Gberegbe who confirmed the release of the bursar in the early hours of today revealed that no ransom was paid to secure her release.
He said: “No single kobo was paid to get the bursar released. What paid off was a sustained pressure on the kidnappers, cooperation from Solomon Ndigbara, effective intelligence gathering, security agencies, concerned Ogonis, the Khana local Government Council, the polytechnic management and others who vowed that no kobo would be paid as ransom to get her released.”
The gunmen had trailed the bursar of Ken Saro-Wiwa polytechnic from the institution to Yeghe and Kpopie Junction in Gokana Local government of Rivers state where she was abducted.
Comrade Gberegbe earlier pleaded with the security agencies in the state to swing into action to rescue the bursar, adding that the polytechnic would assist the security agency to ensure that Mrs. Nkanbia-Davies is freed.
At the time of this report, the Rivers police command is yet to issue a statement concerning her release.
However, it had been confirmed that three of the alleged suspects had been apprehended by the police with an AK 47 rifle
